Annual Sponsored Walk 2019!
One year on from our incredible walk through Epping Forest where we raised a whopping £20,000, we decided to do it all over again! Only this time, we chose to walk 8 miles through the beautiful Hampstead Heath to say a huge THANK YOU to everybody who has supported us over the past year. 2019 truly has been a year to celebrate.
On Saturday 21st September, we all met in Hampstead Heath’s largest car park, spread out our snacks and supplies amongst the group and set off on two 4-mile laps of the heath. Half way through, we stopped off for a quick coffee and bite to eat at the Parliament Hill cafe before heading back to the finish line in around 3 hours.
In contrast to last year, we were blessed with glorious sunshine for the whole morning. This made for a wonderful stroll whilst chatting, making new friends and taking photos of the stunning views.
Not only did our Head of Programmes and Development, Matt, get the chance to speak to everybody about Hope for the Young’s achievements over the past year, but we had the privilege to hear from our very own grant recipient, Mohammed Ismail, who spoke about the impact Hope for the Young’s grants have had on his life. We were incredibly moved and proud to hear that not only has he just passed his LLB Law degree with a first class honours, he has also been elected as the President of his Student’s Union! He really is an inspiration to us all.
Finally, we want to say thank you to all those who kindly donated to this year’s walk and to those who wished us well. Our JustGiving page is still live so if you would like to support our work, we can assure you that your money will go straight towards helping more young people access the education they deserve.
Thank you again for your continued support and please stay tuned to hear what next year’s walk will have in store for us!
