There are lots of ways you can support young refugees and asylum-seekers in your community whilst setting yourself a challenge, making new friends and having fun at the same time!
Any challenge events completed throughout the year, will contribute to our annual 4000 Mile Challenge, where we aim to travel a collective distance of 4,000 miles to raise vital funds for young people seeking sanctuary.
The young people that we work with at Hope for the Young have travelled thousands of miles from their home, often entirely on their own, to seek safety in the UK. This includes journey’s from Afghanistan (4676), Eritrea (4999 miles), Iran (3410 miles), Syria (2829 miles) and Vietnam (5374 miles). To honour their journeys, we have calculated that, on average, young people on our programmes have travelled 4000 miles, to reach the UK.
Whether you want to run a half marathon, take part in a multi-day cycle or run a 5k in your local park, we’ve got the challenge event for you. Remember – every pound you raise will help a young refugee to access education and get the one-to-one support they need to rebuild their life in the UK.
